Stephen Gough was at Carlton Football Club for 18 years. He was a teacher and part time scout
before joining Carlton full time as Recruiting Manager. He then became Football Manager and
finished with 7 years as Carlton’s CEO ending in 1999.
In 1999 he then became CEO of the MCC & MCG, the first MCC CEO to come from a football
background. He remained CEO for 17 years before leaving on his own terms. He oversaw many
significant developments & changes during his 17 at the MCC.
He has many good stories from his 18 years at Carlton. and 17 years running perhaps the
world’s greatest venue, that has hosted many great and interesting events in his time there.
Stephen is still an avid Carlton supporter and a keen golfer.
