Kevin Sheedy 

Kevin is arguably the most influential figure in the history of the AFL and is currently GM of
Commercial Development & Innovation at Essendon. He is regarded as an ambassador for the
game. He has always been innovative and quirky and is a sought after public speaker.

He played 251 games for Richmond, won 3 premierships and a best and fairest, was team
captain in ’78, and was in Richmonds’ Team of The Century and Hall of Fame.

He coached 634 games at Essendon for 4 premierships, and a further 44 games as the initial
GWS coach. He is the coach of the Essendon Team of The Century and was inducted to the AFL
Hall of Fame and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

As a youngster he was also a very good leg spin bowler, playing for Richmond’s 1st X1 when Jim
Higgs was playing for Australia. He is also a very successful Race Horse Owner, and has co
authored 8 books.

Kevin has done much work with Aboriginal Communities and was instrumental in the
instigation of the Dreamtime at the G game and the Anzac Day game.
